Observation 25559: Cortinarius (Pers.) Gray

When: 2009-09-21

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

It’s suddenly Cortinarius City in there. This batch of unid’d brown corts was growing in Zone 45 near the path junction there. There were maybe half a dozen of them, up to fist sized; perhaps the same species as the larger group in Zone 34 (similar fruit-body size and appearance).

Besides those two groups of brown corts, there was a group of C. alboviolaceus in Zone 33 (expanding its known range around here) and at least three in Zone 11.

This after nada four days prior.
