Recognized by sight: This actually looks more like a Clitocybe than a Leucopaxillus. I don’t see the heavy mycelium at the base of the stalk and decurrent gills look wrong.
Used references: I understand that this is the correct name for this taxon in the Western US. http://mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Leucopaxillus_gentianeus.html states that Leucopaxillus amarus is a misapplied name. I have attempted to track down the original descriptions of these taxa and the most important article is Kotlaba, F. (1966). Distribution of Leucopaxillus gentianeus (Quél.) comb. nov. in Czechoslovakia and notes on its nomenclature. Czech Mycol. 20(4): 229-236. which costs money to download online and appears to be in Czechoslovakian.
