CAP: conical, becoming umbonate, brown-black center, becoming lighter towards edge, not striate, with silky sheen. STIPE: 10-13cm, tough, hollow, concolorous with cap near cap, becoming much lighter/white near base, with silky sheen and striate laterally. GILLS: brown to buff-brown, blade-like, alternating; with lighter-colored (golden?) edge of gills. SPORE PRINT: brown to umber, slight reddish tint.
