Observation 2647: Helvella lacunosa Afzel.
When: 2007-02-25
No herbarium specimen

Notes: The white ghost… I’ve only found these kinda beaten up and fading yellow before. This is fresh, and pure white, just like a H. lacunosa laking any color.

11/9/2007 – I’ve been meaning to set this to a white form of H. lacunosa, for awhile now, and so here, I’m finally getting around to it.

Dr. Fred Stevens claims our white H. crispa is usually an albino form of Helvella lacunosa. The difference to look for: H. lacunosa has a margin attached to the stipe at several points and H. crispa has a free margin.
