Observation 2688: Stereum hirsutum (Willd.) Pers.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: On a downed log amongst douglas fir and bay. The smooth tan surface was uppermost and was flexible but thin. The “underside” was covered in white hairs although underneath looks the same color as the upper surface.

Sure looks like Stereum hirsutum.

I generally lump most of them under Stereum hirsutum, but there are several other species. I think Darvin knows these pretty well.
