Observation 2694: Psathyrella candolleana (Fr.) Maire

No herbarium specimen

Notes: These look quite a bit like Observation 2502 to me. Gill color the same and growing at the base of a madrone, just like the above mentioned. My concern with the identification of Psathyrella carbonicola, suggested by Darvin, is that Arora makes it sound like these would only be found on burnt ground, which neither of these were. I don’t know enough to know whether fungi that are known to fruit in burn areas would also fruit elsewhere. If not, are there any other suggestions as to what these might be?
