Observation 27046: Scleroderma cepa group
When: 2009-10-18
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Scleroderma (thick-skinned) cepa has distinctive dirty-orange to reddish stains on the peridium. A 110-pound pot-bellied pig in Vancouver, WA died after eating an unknown quantity of Sclerodermas in his backyard. Based on that data all Scleroderma should be considered poisonous until proven otherwise, according to Dr. James M. Trappe. I agree.
