Notes: Found on a slab of willow bark. This was the largest of about 50. Note the attachment cord visible on the cross section view.

Well, I always use a tripod. Outdoors natural light, indoors a small slaved flash that I usually diffuse using various plastic bowls.

For the Crucibulum shots I either used a Nikkor 105mm macro lens or the same lens with a 52mm extension tube (for the cutaway) or the 105mm with a 50mm lens reverse mounted to the front of it (for the extreme shots of the spore capsules). These were all taken indoors.
