Recognized by sight: a stout “golden” chanterelle under red fir, with whitish gills and a golden cap (even when completely buried). several small groupings found. First specimens spotted by Doug Smith.

Recognized by sight: this is a tricky sp. to ID as it mimics several other western sp., but that pale hymenium and squat shape makes me think that this could be cascadensis…
