Observation 2764: Panus conchatus (Bull.) Fr.

When: 2007-03-05

Collection location: Howarth Park, Santa Rosa, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Debbie Drechsler (debdrex)

No specimen available

Notes:
A strangely lovely something that I found growing inside of a log. The pileus is 1 cm across. There’s not enough space between the cap margin and stipe to see if there are gills in there.

It looks to be the very early stage of Panus conchatus to me.
