And now, suddenly, Alan Rockefeller claims that it is “not likely” to be B. citrina. Since nothing has changed here (new photographs or other new evidence), there are only 2 possibilities here:

1. Something has changed in the taxonomic scene, e.g. they’ve decided to split B. citrina up geographically like they have some other species. Perhaps on the usual Europe/North America dividing line. Is that the case here?

2. Alternatively, there is no change in the definition of the species B. citrina, as well as no new information about this particular observation, in which case there can be no evidence-based reason for suddenly deciding that this is “not likely” to be B. citrina. In that event we would be forced to infer that the motive for the vote was to pick a fight, rather than because new data cast the identification into doubt. I would submit that such a motive is inconsistent with the values of this community, and that a vote made for such a crass reason ought to be withdrawn.
