Observation 27698: Trichaptum Murrill

When: 2009-11-01

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Notes:
This crust-like polypore was all over a fallen log in Zone 12, probably red or jack pine. It had some projecting caps, but was mostly a crust. A single cap has purple pores but its top side looks the same as the others — two different species? Another poroid fungus — http://www.mushroomobserver.org/27699 — was close by.
