Notes: Fruiting in a small group in association with Coast Live Oak (quercus agrifolia), Valley Oak (Q. lobata) and an unknown spruce. Stipe, pileus bruised dark blue when cut. Pores bruised blue.

I don’t know. I think, maybe because it was very dry? I handled it carefully until I finished painting. Once I was done I attacked with relish and got lots of blue.
