Fairly large. Found under Tan Oak, D. fir and redwood. Yellow spored.

Mild, no odor. I don’t remember any brown staining. They kinda survived for the two days it took to take them from here to the Bio 800 class at SFSU, I should have remembered staining if it happened. The stipes on these were fairly purple, that was an interesting feature I guess.

I think in the Thiers Russula of California this is an ok match for Russula maxima.
