Observation 28675: Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.) P. Kumm.
When: 2009-11-22
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found this gorgeous specimen growing under an oak on a fallen (oak?)log, off a well traveled trail. Spore print showed whitish-lilac spores. Heavy dense fungus, not as flimsy or fragile as it looks. No strong odor.
