No herbarium specimen

Notes: Under birch (“birch bolete”), flesh not staining when cut, scabers (numerous projecting tufted hairs)—some washed out/off by rain, stipe staining blue-green below, spores elongated-elliptical and smooth. Dichotomous keys in Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora used.
