Notes: I actually saw this several days ago but didn’t have time to spend on it. Then, when I returned I couldn’t find it. Today, there it was! At first I thought it was some kind of Russula. Then I thought it might actually be what it is but the smooth stipe stymied me. And there was no sign of wood where it fruited. I read some more about it and found that, in age, the stem might not have any scales, so I came back around to this ID. My favorite thing was when I dissected the mushroom and the flesh bruised bright yellow. I didn’t see any mention of that anywhere. Spores were white.
