Observation 30215: Macrocystidia cucumis (Pers.) Joss.

When: 2009-11-21

Collection location: Thoiry, France [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Found under spruce and fir.

I think these are some strange form of Rhodocollybia butyracea, but they are really different than others of those I’ve found up there.

Macrocystidia? But Tephrocybe is a very good (better) guess.

Kind of looked like -

Tephrocybe to me as well. However I think I’m biased since I’ve been grinding Tephrocybe on wikipedia all day.. So take that with a grain of salt :)

This is by no means a Rhodocollybia I would state.

It rather reminds me of a Tephrocybe; my first guess was Macrocystidia cucumis but as there is no remarkable smell this couldn’t be.

No, not really.

No, there wasn’t really a distinct odor here. At least not enough to remark upon…

Some distinct smell?
