Observation 30269: Bovista pila Berk. & M.A. Curtis

Spores slightly roughened, thick-walled, globose, and dark brown. Found solitary, scattered, to gregarious along trails, grassy areas, or near beneath conifers. In maturity, the fruiting body of this puffball possesses a metallic tint. Spore release from an apical pore.
