Observation 30803: Ganoderma sessile Murrill

When: 2009-12-22

Collection location: Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Bob Zuberbuhler (Bob Z)

No specimen available

Notes:
A medium size shelf mushroom found on a large, living, apparently healthy deciduous tree. Most of the top was covered with a shiny, reddish-brown,resinous gelatinous mass. The suface was bumpy. The margin of the cap was white, rather thick, and rolled under. The underside was covered with off white pores. I wondered if this could be Fomitopsis pinicola.

that the spores aren’t brown? Looks like a Ganoderma to me.
