Notes: 7/27/09 Cap width 8 cm red orange with yellow crack like patterns. Pore surface yellow bruising blue. pores 2 mm to 1.5 mm Flesh yellow bruising blue rapidly. Taste mild no odor. Stalk equal slightly twisted slight fibrous, white at the base becoming reddish turning orange reddish on a yellow background Forming slight reticulations on the upper stalk . Inside Stalk yellow. Spore print Olive Brown
Found growing solitary under mixed broad leaved woods, Tulip Trees , Ash in the vicinity and young sassafras but primarily Oak, Hickory. Beech. found in a flatten area close stream area. Resembles Boletellus chrysenteroides but i usually find that and that has a distinct cracking of the cap and on this specimen it is more of a pattern.
