Locality: 29°16’28.21"N, 103°17’12.18"W, el. 1745-2170 m

Substrate and habitat: Growing on the crest and slopes of the cutaway disturbed soil immediately bordering the trail in an open woodland of piñon, juniper, and oak on rocky hillsides.

Identification: There are four species of Cladonia reported from the park:
chlorophaea (mealy pixie-cup, with sorediate podetia),
pyxidata (pebbled pixie-cup, with areolate podetia),
macilenta (lipstick powderhorn, slender podetia with small red caps on top),
subradiata (powdery peg lichen, podetia with brown, sometimes ring-like caps).
