Habitat: Group of Betula pendula var. pendula as a pioneer species on an abandoned pasture; shallow, moderately acid soil on cretaceous clastic rock (flysh), almost flat ground, partly protected from direct rain and in shade of tree canopies, average precipitations ~3.000 mm/year, average temperature 8-10 deg C, altitude 550 m (1.800 feet), alpine phytogeographical region.

Substratum: still alive or dead still standing or down stumps of Betula pendula var. pendula.

Place: Bovec basin, at the foot of Mt. Svinjak, 1.965 m (6.447 feet), above Kal-Koritnica village, East Julian Alps, Posočje, Slovenia EC
