Habitat: Light mixed wood, predominantly Fagus sylvatica and Picea abies, next to upper mostly dry part of a mountain stream, calcareous ground, partly in shade, no sun during winter months, exposed to direct rain, average precipitations 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 6-8 deg C, elevation 880 m (2.900 feet), alpine phytogeographical region.
