yeah, a morel from hell!

with that chambered cap, it does kinda sorta resemble a morel, but hard to imagine folks wanting to gather these stinky things for the table. The purple cap atop your mushroom is a universal veil remnant (lower bit of sac also visible in your photo)…which starts white and stains purple upon exposure to the air. The goo in the chambers is the spore mass and the source of the bad smell…can you guess how their spores are spread? Hint…it’s a flying animal vector…
