I have noticed this even more with Gymnopilus luteofolius.

I know some mycologists say certain species of Gymnopilus that grow on the west coast are not psilocybin active, yet the same species that are not active on the west coast are active on the east coast.

I am speaking specifically of G. luteofolius.

Staining

I know that some Gyms tend to stain more of a greenish color, but I have seen Gyms that have stained blue rather quickly, and not near the base of the stipe but on the pileus and apex of the stipe.

This species turns more green than blue, especially near the stipe base and often as specks of green on the pileus, though usually only noticeable when it has begun to dry.

The ‘out of focus’ blob on the stipe is a piece of dirt that can be seen ‘in focus’ if the second photo is enlarged. No blue staining on these when the photo was taken.

Is that blue staining on the stipe in the first pic, or something else?

Nice photo!
