I labeled the picture Batrachoseps attenuatus, but since I didn’t measure the toe length him, Batrachoseps sp. is probably a better ID.

it’s hard to respect someone who would wear those weird glasses and goofy hat! ;)

as to mushroom squatting slender salamanders…how neat that they would mimic a snake coil. the better to dissuade predators?

Slender Salamander, Batrachoseps sp. people complain about splitters in the mushroom world but I think that they are up to twenty species of Batrachoseps in CA… I’ll find the webpage.
