Notes: Observation from the “Spring Fungi of the Sierra Nevada”, June 9th, 2005, Yuba Pass region.

Found a bunch of these one day walking in a conifer forest, among the snow melt and rotting logs. I have one source that says these are as popular as Morels in some part of Europe, and another source which says these are dangerously poisonous, like Gymomitra. So, I guess your milage may vary, any one who knows better can add a comment here.
