Notes: This was found on soil amongst leaf litter from tree ferns, (Cyathea) species and Kanuka, (Kunzea ericoides).

Pileus: 20-30mm in diameter. Obtusely conic to campanulate with an incurved margin when young, becoming uplifted and slightly umbonate with maturity. Surface radially fibrillose becoming more floccose towards the disc. Brown becoming almost black with maturity with floccose tufts near disk becoming pale tan to almost white, flesh yellowish white.

Stipe: 40-70mm long by 5-8mm in diameter. Solid, equal to slightly enlarged at the base and apex. Surface fibrillose with sparse pale tan to whitish squamules becoming thicker towards the base. Pale buff when young becoming slightly reddish brown to concolorous with the pileus with maturity. Flesh pale buff to white, becoming slightly red with exposure to air and damage. Cortina absent.

Lamellae: Attachment narrowly adnate, crowded, ventricose. Pale yellowish tan when young becoming yellowish brown with maturity.

Spores: Brown in deposit, smooth, phaseoliform or kidney shaped in side view, ellipsoid in face view with a short hilar appendage. 8-11 × 4.5-6.5µm. Spore wall 0.5-0.8µm thick.
Cheilocystidia: Cylindrical to Clavate, articulate. 25-40 × 15µm.
Pleurocystidia: Absent.
