Recognized by sight: not quite exannulate, but with a “dissolving” annulus. stipe with a translucent, tallow-candle aspect, no bulb. saccate membranous volva. subtly striate margin. the color is not as brownish as a classic calyptratoides but color in amanitas is highly variable.
