Notes: A tan oak. The rest of the tree was nearby, the leaves were dead but had not yet dropped off.

Recognized by sight: The ranger emailed me and said that the tree was labeled like that because it fell across the trail and was unstable, probably not related to sudden oak death.

tanoaks have been dying from Phytophthora down there for years…and usually don’t come with a warning label!
