Observation 34723: Lactarius rubidus (Hesler & A.H. Sm.) Methven

Not 100% certain on this, but it did have that “candycap” fragrance, very thin watery latex (some had none at all) and was redder than the caps I remember from earlier in the year. Many were growing in thick moss and ivy, some had stems nearly as thick as the cap was broad. Only one was large (7 to 8 cm), most were 2 to 3 cm.
