Recognized by sight: Knowing the host is important. Some guesses: Inonotus tamaricis if it grows on Tamarix, I. cuticularis if it’s on oak – but I’m not familiar with species in southern Europe.
It should be possible to ID with the help of a microscope.

Recognized by sight: can be confused with I. hispidus which in general is more fleshy and hairy.

I think it was growing on american oak, Quercus rubra
