G. meredithiae is restricted to Pinus, and has a more general southern distribution than Ganoderma tsugae, which is found on hemlock. Unlike G. tsugae the fruit-bodies of G. meridithiae grow sessile to centrally or laterally stipulate at the base of living or dead pines, and stumps.
