Notes: A pale brick-red Hydnellum with clear red liquid drops growing in late summer in the relic dune pine forest of Akademgorodok.

Recognized by sight: Looks like that to me. (what we usually call H. peckii – the bitter one – has a more uneven, striate and fibrous cap, but I doubt that our “peckii” is the same as the original american one)
