Observation 442: Cantharellus formosus Corner
When: 2004-11-22
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Typical chanterelles from my parents property in southern Humboldt county. This is the area where I got interested in mushrooms by finding one of these. I grew up calling these Cantharellus cibarius. I have not verified that these are C. formosus, but given that they were growing in mixed Douglas fir/madrone/tan oak forest in northern California this now seems like the most likely name.
