Observation 44359: Plectania Fuckel
When: 2010-04-07
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Need help here! Please weigh in; I’m new at this.
Found all over the bases of (living and apparently healthy) cedars, and a few crawling up into crevices in the trunk. White spore print. Not evident in images, but smooth (not hairy) exterior.
What are these?
Last 2 images shows these possible Plectanias next to 2 versions of Urnulas found growing on rotting sticks that I brought over to the cedars for photographing. All had white spore prints.

Here they all are together; non-Urnulas=bottom. You can see the short stalk pretty well there.

Used references: Habitat (persistently on the bases of cedars), size & shape (a bowl w/ a very short attachment) wasn’t fitting Urnula, so I started hunting it down. This is as close as I got.
