Observation 447: Cantharellus californicus Arora & Dunham

No herbarium specimen

Notes: As of November 2008 this name has been formally published in “A New, Commercially Valuable Chanterelle Species, Cantharellus californicus sp. nov., Associated with Live Oak in California, USA” by David Arora and Susie M. Dunham in the journal of Economic Botany.

These particular specimens are the typical southern California coast live oak loving chanterelles and were found in the Santa Monica mountains near Calabasas.
