a little more than an inch in diameter and the height was nearly the same. It was growing out of very sandy soil.
How wide and how tall was this specimen? Gill striations at edge of cap suggest Russula or Amanita. If less than 4 inches tall or wide, probably Russula or Macowanites. The gill photo seems to show a lot of gills growing together, a feature suggesting either transitional Russula or Macowanites. Was there an odor?
