Observation 44716: Clitocybe (Fr.) Staude

When: 2009-10-13

Collection location: Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Hamilton (ham)

No specimen available

Spore print was pinkish-white. Found in floodplain area in leaf debris in the vicinity of maple, sycamore, walnut, and boxelder. Cap about 6 cm wide, thin fleshed, pinkish flesh.

At first I thought these to be Clitocybe nuda but they seemed different.

…distinctive odor or taste. I’ve picked a lot of blewits but this mushroom just didn’t seem right to me. I’m hoping to see this again.
