Observation 44741: Peltigera phyllidiosa Goffinet & Miadlikowska
When: 2009-11-14
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: I thought this was P. neckeri for the longest time, but now on closer inspection, I see abundant minute lobules in my photos. I guess I can finally stop my Quixotic quest to find another P. neckeri in the GSMNP! There’s a reason it’s not on the checklist…

This is a very healthy specimen, found on the base of a mossy oak high on a mesic, open, hardwood slope. All of out Peltigera were doing really well at the end of 2009. The winter was very hard on them and now everything is looking half-dead.
