I have a patch near my house that has had new fresh specimens in it every time I have checked since shortly after new years day. Thick, rich humus and these things just go nuts. I haven’t tried them, they are just eye candy for me.

judging from the many holes and duff disturbance, this patch has been producing and providing to folks for a while. Brought to the BAMS meeting that night and distributed to various mycophagists present. Bon apetit!
