may be right, if ancilis really is the same as perlata.
Another question is why some prefer to call them Gyromitra instead of Discina?

There are a few look-alikes too. In Europe we also have Gyromitra accumbens (probably overlooked), and the more southern species Gyromitra parma.
An american look-alike is Gyromitra melaleucoides, I assume there are others too.
