Observation 45124: Pleurotus populinus O. Hilber & O.K. Mill.
When: 2010-05-04
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I actually picked these mushrooms on April 30th,2010 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
I found them growing on a dead log which looked like a Popular or Aspen tree.
The surface is white and smooth like suede. The gills are white, closely spaced and decurrent. The spore print is also white. The stem is more of a foot only. It smells like fresh bread. It certainly looks like an Oyster mushroom but I’d like more opinions. Are there other tests I can perform ?
