Observation 45366: Abortiporus Murrill

No herbarium specimen

Notes: This unusual large (approx 6inches across) fungi was growing at the base of a tree. I was intigued by the way smaller examples were existing inside the main body of the fungi. I also (in the last image ) removed two smaller pieces to show there root system.

Ian Hood has a book “An Intro. to Fungi on Wood in QLD”. It might help, I haven’t used it much…
