Observation 45566: Morchella Dill. ex Pers.
When: 2010-05-17
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Picture perfect black(ish) morels. 2nd year after wildfire. These guys were prolific last spring. This year I have only found one good cluster, but the specimens were larger and meatier than any I found last year – gotta love the inter-annual variation! Oh yeah, and the picture also includes a small cluster of craterellus cornucupioides.

Those black trumpets are a different species based on the presence of false gills.
