Two groups, one growing in the bole of a dead oak, the other on a well rotted log about 1/4 mile away. Very small – caps about .5 cm, stipe about 1 to 2 com. White spore print

These & other sources emphasize that X. campanella is found on conifer wood, while X. kauffmanii is found on hardwoods, especially oaks, as was the case with these specimens.
