in a transition area between pine plantation and native hardwood. I think they were growing from pine, but i can’t be certain of that.

These are way larger than the commonly encountered black-foot polypore.

What kind of wood were these Polyporus growing from? P. varius prefers conifers, P. elegans likes hard wood.
