I did not consider H. constifera…it has not been reported from California. In:

Abbott, S.P. & Currah, R.S. (1997). The Helvellaceae: Systematic revision and occurrence in northern and northwestern North America. Mycotaxon 62: 1-125.

Abbot and Currah state about H. acetabulum:

“This species is most closely related to H. costifera (q.v.), and perhaps represents a single variable species.”

Did you consider the possibility of these being H. costifera?
