The name Amanita rasitabula Tulloss nom. prov. will appear on the new Amanitaceae web site of Tulloss and Yang. This name will apply to taxa that share the overall macroscopic appearance of the mushroom depicted in this observation. One notable characteristic that doesn’t jump out at you from these pictures is that the sack of the volva on the stem base is rather weak and can break into several pieces even from rather gentle handling.


White Grisette

This white grisette was growing in an open grassy area near scarlet oak. There were ordinary gray grisettes growing nearby.
